2025/26 Season

It's a season of celebration and artistic return! We're thrilled to announce Fiasco's 2025/26 season, a year filled with joyous theatrical adventures. It all kicks off with our Without A Net reading series, featuring our new production of William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, created in collaboration with the incredible Saunders Collective. In a more intimate setting, we're also holding an invitation-only reading of Bartleby to ready the show for its full production. And what's a Fiasco season without a party? Our super fun gala, ‘Tis a Gift: A Very Merry Fiasco Fundraiser, is back to celebrate with you! Then, in 2026, the magic continues on stage with the premiere of our Globe-commissioned Bartleby at The Old Globe in San Diego, followed by our full production of The Comedy of Errors at Actors Theatre of Louisville. It's going to be a wild ride, and we can't wait to share it with you!

Bartleby

adapted from Herman Melville’s Bartleby the Scrivener

Invitation-Only Reading
Friday, November 21, 2025

We are excited to be gathering for an invitation-only reading of our new play, Bartleby, in New York City. This Globe-commissioned world premiere, adapted from Herman Melville’s classic short story, is written by Fiasco Company members Noah Brody and Paul L. Coffey and directed by Company member Emily Young.

The reading is a crucial step in the development of the show, as we work to blend the buttoned-up world of an 1850s law firm with the contemporary spirit of "The Office" and the absurdity of Beckett. This wildly theatrical and haunting reflection on work, will, and what happens when one person refuses to go along with the program will then have its full production premiere at the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre at The Old Globe from February 20 to March 15, 2026.

March 4-15, 2026

Fiasco Theater, who dazzled Globe audiences with Into the Woods and The Imaginary Invalid, returns with a striking new take on a Herman Melville’s darkly comic classic, Bartleby, the Scrivener. Set in the buttoned-up world of an 1850s law firm but infused with the spirit of “The Office” and the absurdity of Beckett, Fiasco Theater’s Bartleby is a hilarious and haunting reflection on work, will, and what happens when one mild-mannered employee refuses to go along with the program. “I would prefer not to,” says Bartleby—and chaos erupts. This Globe-commissioned world premiere promises a wildly theatrical rediscovery of one of American literature’s most indelible stories.

March 4-15, 2026

Actors Theatre of Louisville welcomes back New York-based company Fiasco Theater as they combine their joyful, actor-driven approach to Shakespeare with the ingenuity of The Saunders Collective—a family of multi-talented performers, singers, composers and producers. Featuring original music, this collaboration breathes magical new life into the classic madcap farce about two pairs of identical twins, separated in a shipwreck, whose day roaming the same city leads to mistaken identities, cascading misadventures, and gloriously silly comic confusion.
