Accessibility
Fiasco Theater is deeply committed to making the performing arts accessible to everyone. We believe that theater should be a shared experience, and we strive to remove barriers so that all members of our community can enjoy our productions. Our commitment is reflected in a range of ongoing initiatives designed to welcome individuals with diverse needs, from offering specialized performances to providing vital support services.
We focus on ensuring our shows are accessible to individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing by providing ASL interpretation and captioning. Additionally, we are dedicated to creating supportive environments for neurodiverse audiences through sensory-friendly performances. We also understand the challenges faced by parents and caregivers, and we are working to make our shows more family-friendly.
For example, during our production of Pericles, we offered several specific accommodations. We had a sensory-friendly performance, a free childcare matinee in partnership with Broadway Babysitters, and an ASL-interpreted performance. We also offered both open and closed captioning for all performances, with dedicated dates for open-captioned shows. These initiatives demonstrate our ongoing dedication to inclusivity, and we continue to seek new ways to make our theater a welcoming space for all.
